Driving From Dallas to Austin - things to do

by

I like to travel, and when I do, I love to see the sights.  I feel so much more at home when I take in the culture, and my environment.

If you are driving to and from Dallas to Austin, here are a few places to visit.  Stop at all or some of these, and let's have some fun.

Waco, TX - channel your inner Fixer Upper fan at Magnolia Market, and pretend you're on your own home makeover show.  Don't forget to strike your best "suprised homeowner" pose!

Hillsboro, TX - take a selfie behind bars at the Hill County Cell Block Museum, post, and ask - "caption this."

West, TX - have a "sweet" time sampling all the different flavors of kolaches at the local bakeries, and rate them with a "kolache connoisseur" scorecard.  BTW, being new to Texas, I didn't know what a kolache was.

Temple, TX - practice your best conductor impression at the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum, complete with your own train whistle sound effects.

Georgetown, TX - embark on a scavenger hunt to find the quirkiest shop on the town square, then strike a pose with your newfound treasure.

Round Rock, TX - cheer for your imaginary baseball team from the nosebleed seats and make new friends by debating imaginary plays with fellow "fans."

Lockhart, TX - challenge your travel companions to a "BBQ Tasting Olympics," complete with scoring cards and dramatic commentary for each bite.

San Marcos, TX - embrace your inner river deity and craft the most elaborate "river goddess" sandcastle on the banks of the San Marcos River.

New Braunfels, TX - convince your travel buddies to have a "pretend picnic" by the river, complete with imaginary sandwiches and invistible ants to keep things interesting.

Bastrop, TX - embark on a mythical creature hunt through Bastrop's charming streets.  Pretend that you're on a mission to spot the elusive "Bastropian Yeti" or the legendary "Chupacabra of the Lost Pines."  Document your search with quirky photos and wild tales to tell around the campire -because who said cryptid spotting can't be a Texas-sized adventure?

Buda, TX - roll into Buda with your most dapper "wiener couture" and join the fashion forward pups at the Buda Wiener Dog Races.  Strut your stuff down the imaginary runway, and who knows, you might just win the "Best In Bun" award!  Remember, it's not just a road trip - it's a runway rampage!
