Down payment assistance for new home buyers.

The Atlanta Housing & Neighborhood Development Department (HAND) provides a variety of programs to help first-time home buyers make a down payment on a home in the city. The Atlanta Homebuyers Assistance Program (AHAP) provides up to $25,000 in assistance with a minimum of 1% of the purchase price required as a down payment from the buyers own funds. The Homebuyer Assistance Loan Program (HALP) provides up to $15,000 in assistance and requires a minimum 3% of the purchase price for down payment from the buyers own funds. The work ready loan program provides up to $7,500 in assistance and requires a minimum 3% of the purchase price for down payment from the buyers own funds. The city also offers a Visa Homeowner grant of up to $5,000 for down payment assistance.
